Super middleweight contender Christian Mbilli (28-0, 23 KOs) stayed unbeaten with a ten round unanimous decision over a one-armed former three-time world title champion Sergy Derevyanchenko (15-6, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Videotron in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
The scores were 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. Boxing News 24 scored it 8-2 for Mbilli. Derevyanchenko, 38, suffered a left bicep injury in round four, and was fighting with just his right arm for the remainder of the fight.
Mbilli’s Rabbit Punches Key
In the seventh round, Derevyanchenko hurt Mbilli and flurried him but couldn’t put him away. The remainder of the fight was one-sided with Mbilli staking the injured Derevyanchenko around the ring, throwing a lot of illegal rabbit punches and getting away with it.
He should have lost points for the illegal punches to the back of the head, which he seemed to focus on. That was a big part of Mbilli’s offense, targeting rabbit punches.
Guido Vianello (13-2-1, 11 KOs) scored an eighth-round stoppage over Arslanbek Makhmudov (19-12, 18 KOs) in heavyweight action. The ringside doctor advised for the fight to be halted at the start of round eight due to the swelling of Makhmudov’s left eye being badly swollen. Makhmudov was docked a point for shoving Vianello over the ropes in the sixth round
The big 6’5″ Makhmudov’s left eye had begun swelling from the third round from the right hands that Vianello had been hitting him with repeatedly.
Osleys Iglesias (12-0, 11 KOs) scored a fast second-round knockout win over Sena Agbeko (28-4, 22 KOs) in super middleweight action. The Cuban prospect Iglesias knocked Agbeko down with a left-right combination late in round one. In the second round, Iglesias flurried on the still-hurt Agbeko, prompting the referee to step in and stop the fight. The time of the stoppage was at 1:16 of round two.
Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs) looked devastatingly powerful, knocking out Mike Ohan Jr. (19-3, 9 KOs) in the second round with a two-knockdown performance. The fight was halted at 0:40 of round two after Mason, 20, flattened Ohan with a right hook to the head and caught him with a left hand down the pipe.
In round one, Mason knocked Ohan down with a left uppercut. It was late in the round when Mason took advantage of Ohan, who was leaning forward and caught him with a perfectly placed uppercut to the head.
Ohan Jr. looked stunned after getting up, but made it through the final ten seconds of the round before the bell sounded. In the opening seconds of round two, Mason finished off Ohan Jr. by knocking him down a second time. After he got back to his feet, the fight was waved off by the referee.
