In the eighth exhibition bout of his post-boxing career, former undefeated five-division world champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather will step inside the squared circle once again to face John Gotti III on Saturday night, August 24th, in Mexico City, streaming live on DAZN. The ringwalks for Mayweather vs. Gotti III are scheduled for 11 p.m. ET / 4 a.m. UK with the event set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET / 12:30 a.m. UK.

Mayweather and Gotti faced each other in the ring back in June 2023 at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Due to an incident that took place in the sixth round, the fight was stopped and declared a no-contest. Now, Gotti is ready to battle Mayweather for a second time.

John Gotti III is the grandson of the late mobster John Gotti. He made his MMA debut in October 2017 when he scored a first-round TKO victory over Johnny Adams. After winning five bouts in a row, Gotti suffered his first loss in the octagon in October 2020.

Two years later, Gotti transitioned from the octagon to the squared circle as he defeated Albert Tulley via unanimous decision. In his next bout, he posted a first-round TKO victory over Alex Citrowske. Shortly after, Gotti was offered the opportunity to face a boxing legend.

Normally, in an exhibition bout, Floyd Mayweather initially takes it easy on his opponent, but in his match against John Gotti III, Mayweather got off to a very aggressive start. In the opening round, Mayweather consistently threw the jab, followed by a hard right to the body.

In the second round, Mayweather displayed his defensive skills as he ducked and dodged Gotti’s punches while constantly talking trash. During the course of rounds 3 through 5, Floyd Mayweather continued to showboat and hit John Gotti with sharp, accurate shots.

With 1:12 left to go in the sixth round, Gotti forced a clinch. As the referee repeatedly called for the break, Gotti continued to hold Mayweather. Referee Kenny Bayless stopped the match, but Gotti didn’t appreciate the stoppage.

Gotti maneuvered around the referee and attempted to hit Mayweather with a right hand. Gotti missed, but Mayweather connected with a counter right-hand shot as members of both camps entered the ring, and a mass brawl broke out.

A year later, the 47-year-old boxing hall of famer Floyd Mayweather Jr. took to social media to announce his return match against John Gotti III. Mayweather emphasized that it is a fight that you don’t want to miss, using the hashtag #UnfinishedBusiness.
