Initial Sticker Shock
Some fans on social media are complaining about the PPV price. However, given the talent on the undercard, the value for the August 3rd card is excellent. They’re getting sticker shock at seeing the $79.99, which is jarring at first glance but fully worth it.
When fans see a prize tag that night, they are shocked for a second, and that’s why it’s important that the event promoters let fans know about the other good fights on the card, some of them better than the main event.
Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) is an excellent fighter, but he’s not fought in a year and has only been competing annually for the last four years since 2020. When a fighter only performs once a year for four solid years, it’s difficult for boxing fans to get excited about seeing them.
Standout Matchups:
– Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz vs. Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela: The keeper of the bunch
– Jared Anderson vs. Martin Bakole
– Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller
– David Morrell vs. Radivoje “Hot Rod” Kalajdzic
– Andy Cruz vs. Antonio Moran
Given that fans aren’t that excited about seeing the inactive 36-year-old Crawford fight WBA junior middleweight champion Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs), the way to promote the August 3rd card is for the promoters to focus more on the undercard fights, particularly the ‘Pitbull’ Cruz vs. ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela match-up.
Many American fans want to see that one more than Crawford-Madrimov. The organizers of the August 3rd event have put Crawford in the main event to prepare him to move up to 168 and fight Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed super middleweight championship in 2025.
It’s understandable why they would want Crawford in the headliner spot, even if it’s a fight that U.S. fans aren’t eager to see. It would have been a better idea for the organizers to have matched Crawford against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis for the main event on August 3rd because fans have been eager to see that fight for years, and many of them feel that Terence is running scared of the young lion.
