By Rusty Nate: I recently read an article regarding Adrien Broner and what is next for him after capturing the World Title from Demarco and also securing the number 1 spot in the Ring Lightweight Ranking.
A lot has been speculated.
He shouldn’t fight Burns because it would be an easy win so what’s the point.
He should step straight up and fight the champions at Light Welter.
By Rusty Nate: I have been thinking about the hatred and abuse that seems to fly from bloggers and forum posters recently. Now don’t get me wrong I know that this happens regarding a lot of fighters in all divisions but let be honest it’s not been as intense as the age old battle between the “Pactards” and “Floydiots”.
Unlike a lot of sports where a physical participation as a child causes the love, like Football or Tennis, boxing is a sport that can be equally loved by a person that has been no where near a ring. Everyone has a reason they fall in love with boxing, it might be that you saw Rocky 1 in the cinema in 1976 and you thought that it was possible to go from rags to riches, maybe you were watching the day that Mohammed Ali defied all logic and knocked out the unbeatable monster in Zaire or then again you might be from a boxing family background and so there was no chance of you escaping the clutches of the sport!
By Rusty Nate: There’s been a huge amount of coverage about the top 4 at Super Middleweights since the weekend when IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch destroyed the hopeful but out of his depth Yusaf Mack “Attack” inside 3 rounds. The talk from Froch is he wants Bute, Kessler and Ward. I would love to see these three fights happen because as a boxing fan they would be great to watch!
The bias Writers have been out in force to throw cold water on Froch’s steaming performance and point out that he would still be beaten by Ward and he fought an empty body on Saturday night etc etc
By Rusty Nate: Well after a wonderful weekend of fights what did we learn from it all? We’ll start at the bottom and work up……
Bellew Vs Bolonti – UD
I think this was an amazing fight. Not because it was full of knock downs or because they both went to out and out war but because it showed us a HUGE amount about the character of Tony Bellew.
By Rusty Nate: So as the weekend approaches and the buzz of the Saturday night fights from the UK and the US start to boil over I thought I would have a quick little write up on my thoughts……
From the UK…
Carl Froch (29-2-0) vs. Yusaf Mack (31-4-2)
I don’t see this as being a hugely exciting fight like the Froch vs. Bute encounter. To be fair to them though the promoters & fighters have managed to do a wonderful job of building the event set to take place in Nottingham.
By Rusty Nate: We are very close to the first professional fight for the latest celebrity sports switcher. The lovable and publically popular Freddie Flintoff throws his hat into the ring in just over 14 days and I wanted to hear your points of view and to let you know my thoughts.
By Rusty Nate: For those of you that may have read my previous articles you will know that bias and pointless criticism is not something that I look to write. I keep my articles as close to the mark as possible but without ever being one sided.
With that in mind I thought I would tackle the old Manny Mayweather / Floyd Pacquiao situation in the way I see it.
by Rusty Nate: I see myself as a fan of the sport and an admirer of every man that has ever dared to lace up gloves and risk their lives for the sake of the people’s entertainment.
Obviously I have fighters that I have preferred watching over the years. Marco Antonio Barrera, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Shane Mosley, Thomas Hearns, Floyd Mayweather and the list goes on and on. When I write about this sport and the fighters in it I tend to try and put my personal thoughts and feelings about my favored fighters to one side and give an objective view or pose a pertinent question that will allow the forum posters to discuss the subject objectively and without unnecessary bias.
by Rusty Nate: I am British! Now that is out of the way I just wanted to put out there my disappointment that so many writers seem to treat the sport and the fighters in it like a world war.
I think a lot of you guys that are reading this will probably know without names which writers are the main culprits for hate articles based on little more than emotion rather than facts of the sport or the careers the fighters have had.
I read some articles and I can feel myself getting more and more irritated by the inhuman one sided tunnel vision that is displayed by these writers.
by Rusty Nate: Amir Khan finds himself in an interesting position at present. Having lost his last two fights to boxers with inferior movement, speed and experience at the highest level in the biggest arena’s it would seem only logical that he would be considering his future within the sport.
Now I am a believer that a fighter as young as him at an age where his performance physically is not going to decline anytime soon that he can come again and make a success of the rest of his career. Manny Pacquiao took a couple of losses early on (one a pretty bad KO) and now look at what he has become.
